What characterizes a racing bike?
Racing bikes have always been a part of cycling and the choice when it comes to racing on the road. The road bike is trimmed for speed thanks to its low weight, narrow, smooth tires and geometry. The differences between the models are relatively small. Racing handlebars are always fitted, the brakes are now also hydraulic and gears are often shifted electronically. But not every racing bike owner races with it. It is also the sports bike for long and leisurely rides. For pleasure riders, a less extreme riding position is adopted in order to ride long tours comfortably. This is usually achieved with a raised stem or a special touring model.
The typical road cyclist
Road cyclists often cover very long distances on their bikes, enjoy the wind blowing around their noses and see mountains and descents as a challenge to set a new best time. Even without the hunt for records, racing cyclists use the long tours to stay fit. They also like to meet up in groups and ride together. You can have your road bike retrofitted with the Pendix eDrive at one of our dealers and retain your usual riding experience. All you need to do is install a different crankset with our Pendix motor and battery on your road bike. You can also leave it at home at any time if you want to go for a ride without assistance. This means that your fellow cyclists no longer have to wait for you and you have a more relaxed riding experience.
