What characterizes a mountain bike?
The mountain bike is the predestined piece of sports equipment for all cyclists who are bored of riding on asphalt roads. A mountain bike, regardless of whether it has no suspension or full suspension, is designed for off-road riding. This includes profiled and wide tires as well as powerful brakes. When it comes to suspension, there are a few differences depending on the discipline. Where a simple suspension fork with a maximum of 100 mm travel is sufficient for a normal touring rider, downhill riders need full suspension with around 200 mm and more.

If you only want to go on a short, flat tour, you can simply ride without the battery. On a longer tour, you can decide for yourself when you want to ride with or without assistance, because thanks to the lack of gearing, you hardly feel any pedal resistance when the drive is switched off. The assistance can be switched on again just as quickly.
A hardtail mountain bike can be retrofitted without any problems. Depending on the length of the tour, the Pendix eDrive 300 or Pendix eDrive 500 is suitable.
